Ardent cooks and entertainers, this bespoke kitchen project in a statuesque brick colonial in Nashville, TN began with a careful consideration of the space. A classic open kitchen with a range cooker at its heart brings a focal point to this large space. A butler’s pantry you can step into acts as part larder and scullery too, colour-drenched in our ‘Sprouts”, inspired by the lush green vegetation outside. Milled wooden countertops from the client’s family farm are crafted from Ambrosia Maple. Cupboards in the main kitchen, painted in our “Burnt Toast” frame the door to the pantry with a pair of twin refrigerators flanked by cookbook stacks. An active and busy family space, stools at the Osea island can be perched on by guests at a dinner party or by the family, during homework time or casual breakfasts. Fluted glass and burnished brass hardware add design accents and interest to the hand-painted cabinets and a companion mudroom is painted in our “Silver Polish” creating a distinct but coordinated entrance to the space.
