DETAILS
Attention to detail defines Plain English. Measured and imagined, sawn and sanded, hammered and pegged, honed and jointed, lined and waxed, polished and painted. A careful selection and tailoring of materials and our confident consideration and development of ideas creates a thoughtful design. Perfectly dovetailed joints on a drawer, a wardrobe lined with Cedar of Lebanon or the hand-painted brush strokes on every piece. Our hand-cast ironmongery and Delft by Plain English tile collections, inspired by antique examples collected over many years by founders Tony Niblock and Katie Fontana, all made in Suffolk, England add further refining detail. At Plain English we find inspiration in both likely and unlikely places, in considered visuals and mechanical fluidity, in the seen, and unseen.
