PLAIN ENGLISH COLOUR COLLECTIONS

One of the hallmarks of a Plain English project is the subtle hand-painted brush strokes visible across all our joinery. We offer fifty of our own paint colours grouped in five Colour Collections from which to select a shade, though a project can be painted in any paint colour, custom or off the shelf.

We describe Colour Collection No.1, simply, as ‘colours for cupboards’. The 12 shades that launched our own paint offering suggest the below stairs world of the great English country houses. Colour
Collection No.2 recalls the linoleum hallways, wallpapered breakfast rooms and nurseries of an imagined house. Colour Collection No.3, developed in collaboration with Rita Konig and Kate Shaw, is inspired by the daily rituals of household life – making the tea, burning the toast, sewing the cloth or the vibrant colouring of an Irish landscape or sweetened peel. Colour Collection No.4 is influenced by some of the more practical colours used in the vast working kitchens in the grand houses and estates of Great Britain.
