The Menagerie A true labour of love; once owned by the Earl of Halifax, this Menagerie had been attentively restored over a period of six years before the owners approached Plain English to help with the kitchen, larders, scullery, coat & utility, crockery & china cupboards which are housed deep in the cellar and vaults. The clients had admired the uncomplicated, utilitarian hand painted cupboards together with Plain English colours, referencing historic distempers for their particular and extraordinary space. Here Plain English paint in ‘Mash’ with Antique Brass handles adorn the kitchen cupboards, with ‘Sauce’ having been used to perfectly compliment the joinery detailing and Marble worktops of the Bath Dresser. Butler’s Pantry Cupboards with plain Wilkes doors are again painted in ‘Kipper’ & ‘Mash’ with gleaming ‘Sauce’ gloss paint for the welcoming postern bench seating.
